Off the needles

Ahhhhh. One more thing off the needles. Tiny project? Yes, it's a preemie hat. That's Pee-Wee's real size doll filling in for a model today. I am accomplishing things. My goal is to finish all the works in progress so I don't have to pack them on needles to go back home. It'll take some control to not start any new projects. Maybe I should go ahead and pack up the yarn now...

My dye-it-yourself yarn came yesterday. I was taping down paper to protect the floors from the painters (a lesson I wish I had learned before the sheetrock guys left us with a snowstorm of dust and big drops of goo on the floor) and the mailman tossed it in the open door. I had to wait to open it so I wouldn't go and get it dusty. All the wait was really anti-climactic when finally ripped into the package. It's white yarn. Not sure what I was expecting.

And not sure what we will get either. It's a project for Big Brother to help me with. We're going to go get four different Kool-aid colors and give it a try. This is completely new territory so it should be a comedy of errors. When Big Brother is done with his track meet we'll go shopping for supplies. We'll just have to keep Pee-Wee out of the mess!

Here I am!

Inspiration strikes in so many ways.... I decided this may be the best way for the world to see what we're up to. I'll do my best to keep on top of it. It's also completely self-indulgent. I always did like to be the center of attention...
We're almost back home Post-Katrina. The house is almost rebuilt. It's almost hurricane season again. But hey! we have sheetrock!

Once again, I've been knitting too many projects at once and have decided I need to start finishing some of them and send them off to their new homes- even if that new home is my sock drawer! I have fully embraced April's Project Spectrum with some lovely orange and yellow socks in yarn from Woolarina Handpaints. It is wonderful yarn. It's hard to see the lace pattern here but it's a nice 8 row repeat. I'll add the pattern when they're all done. I am only knitting one at a time but I like this yarn so much I am already ready to start the second sock! Pee-Wee likes it too, she keeps rubbing it against her face saying "Oooooo" so you know it's nice!
Speaking of Pee-Wee, she's going to "school" two mornings a week now. She's come a long way. And Big Brother too, he only has 20 more days of school left. Wow- then he'll be an 8th grader.
